The Sidetrip Apple Watch companion keeps your itinerary available while you travel. Use it for quick reference, day progress, and visit-status updates without taking out your iPhone.
Requirements
- Sidetrip Pro
- Apple Watch running watchOS 11.0 or later
- An iPhone to install the Watch companion
- The same iCloud account on your Watch and main Sidetrip device
The Watch companion does not include its own purchase or restore flow. Open Sidetrip on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to purchase or restore Pro. The Watch receives the access state through iCloud.
Getting Started
- Install and open Sidetrip on your iPhone, then install the Watch companion.
- Sign in to the same iCloud account on your Apple Watch.
- Make sure Sidetrip Pro is active in the main app.
- Open Sidetrip on Apple Watch and wait for your trips to sync.
If the Watch shows Sidetrip Pro Required, open the main app, restore or complete your Pro purchase, wait for iCloud to sync, and tap Try Again on the Watch.
What You Can Do on Apple Watch
Browse Your Trips
The Watch shows active private trips and trips shared with you. Open a trip to browse its parts, days, accommodations, and transportation details. Archived trips remain hidden.
Review a Day
Open a day to see its date, title, summary, stops, completion progress, tips, and linked accommodation. Stops appear in itinerary order.
Review Stop Details
A stop can include its time, duration, description, address, cost, opening hours, phone number, website, notes, transit information, and tags.
Track Visit Status
On an editable trip, mark a stop as In Progress, Visited, Skipped, or Not Visited. Status changes are saved and sync through iCloud. If a shared trip is read-only, the Watch displays the current status without edit controls.
What Stays in the Main App
Use Sidetrip on iPhone, iPad, or Mac to perform actions that are not available on Apple Watch:
- Create trips, import JSON, or export trips
- Edit itinerary content, notes, accommodations, or transportation
- View day maps or start navigation
- Invite participants or manage sharing
- Generate trips with Apple Intelligence or use the AI assistant
Sync and Offline Use
The Watch uses iCloud to receive trip data and sync visit-status changes. A downloaded itinerary remains available when the network is unavailable. Any changes wait locally and sync when the connection returns.
Trips Are Not Appearing
- Confirm Sidetrip Pro is active in the main app.
- Verify the Watch and main app use the same iCloud account.
- Check that Sidetrip is enabled in iCloud.
- Open the main app and wait for its trips to finish syncing.
- Reopen Sidetrip on Apple Watch and wait for the Watch sync to complete.
Status Changes Are Not Syncing
Check the Watch's Wi-Fi or cellular connection and confirm the trip is editable. Open Sidetrip on another device to fetch the change after the connection returns.
