Burst Timers is designed to keep your data on your devices. This article explains what the app stores, what it shares, and with whom.
No Account
Burst Timers doesn't require an account or sign-in. Your settings and runs aren't sent to a server run by the developer.
Settings Stay on Each Device
Your segments, lengths, labels, icons, colors, and other settings are stored on the device where you set them. They aren't synchronized through iCloud or any other service.
Copy to Apple Watch
When you choose Copy to Apple Watch on iPhone, your Work and Rest labels, icons, and colors are sent directly to your paired Apple Watch through Apple's connection between the two devices. Nothing else is sent, and it only happens when you ask.
Health Data
- Burst Timers asks for Health access to run a workout session, which keeps the timer running in the background.
- Workouts, heart rate, and active energy are saved to Health only when you turn on Save Workouts to Health.
- Heart rate and active energy are read during a run only to include them in the saved workout.
- Health data stays in the Health app, protected by Apple's Health privacy controls. You can review or revoke access at any time in the Health app.
Lock Screen and Menu Bar
During a run, the Live Activity on iPhone, the menu bar and Dock icon on Mac, and the Smart Stack on Apple Watch show your period labels and the time left. Anyone who can see your screen can see this information. If your labels are personal, keep that in mind, or turn off Live Activities, Show in Menu Bar, or Show Timer in Dock.
Permissions
- Health: to run a workout session and, if you choose, save workouts. See Saving Workouts to Health.
- Live Activities: to show the run on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island on iPhone.
Burst Timers doesn't request access to your location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
