Image Resizer supports common raster image formats that macOS can reliably open, resize, and save.
Supported formats
- PNG files with the
.pngextension - JPEG files with the
.jpgor.jpegextension - TIFF files with the
.tifor.tiffextension - GIF files with the
.gifextension - BMP files with the
.bmpextension - JPEG 2000 files with the
.jp2extension
Unsupported formats
If you try to add an unsupported file, Image Resizer shows an error or skips the file in Bulk mode.
Unsupported formats may include documents, vector artwork, RAW files, videos, archives, or image types that macOS cannot decode through the app.
Output format
Image Resizer preserves the original image format when saving resized files. For example, resizing a .png file creates a resized .png file, and resizing a .jpg file creates a resized .jpg file.
JPEG quality
JPEG and JPEG 2000 outputs are saved using compression. This keeps file sizes reasonable while preserving visual quality.
