Answers to common questions about Chessic.
Gameplay
Do I need to know chess?
No. Chessic borrows how a few chess pieces move, and the tutorial and How to Play explain every piece.
How many strikes does a square need?
Three. Each strike leaves a new piece on the square, and the third strike clears it.
Is every board solvable?
Yes. Every board can be fully cleared. If the forge cools, a different route would have cleared it.
What is the difference between forged and cooled?
A forged board has every square cleared. A cooled board ended because no legal strikes remained. Both submit your score to the leaderboard and unlock the next forge, but only forged boards extend your streak.
Does pausing stop the clock?
In single player, yes. In a duel, no. The duel clock keeps running for both players.
Why can't I earn the perfect sequence in Apprentice or Journeyman?
The perfect sequence needs number 4, which first appears in Artisan.
Duels
Do I need Chessic Unlimited to duel?
No. Quick Duel is free. Chessic Unlimited lets you choose the duel forge.
Can I duel a friend?
Yes. Invite a Game Center friend when you start a duel. Duels from an invitation are friendly and do not change your rating.
What happens if I leave a duel?
Leaving a duel, either with Concede & Leave or by switching away from Chessic, counts as a loss. If the duel was rated, your rating drops.
Why is my rating marked Provisional?
Your first 10 rated duels are provisional, and your rating moves faster while Chessic finds your level.
Records and Sync
Does my progress sync between my devices?
Your record and statistics sync through iCloud. Your game history and replays stay on the device where you played. Your duel rating, leaderboard scores, and achievements are stored with Game Center.
Does Chessic record games before I buy Chessic Unlimited?
Yes. Every game is recorded from the first one, so your statistics and history are ready when you unlock them.
Are tutorials recorded?
No. Tutorials are not added to your record, statistics, or history.
Chessic Unlimited
Is Chessic Unlimited a subscription?
No. It is a one-time purchase.
Does one purchase work on iPhone, iPad, and Mac?
Yes. On another device with the same Apple Account, choose Settings > Restore Purchases.
Does Chessic have ads?
No.
