Every Coindrel match uses the same core rules. Before a Solo, Pass & Play, friend, or nearby match, you can also choose the time per turn and three optional variants. Rules are locked once the match starts.
Time per Turn
- 30 seconds: the standard clock, used by Quick Match.
- 60 or 120 seconds: more thinking time. Always free.
- 5 seconds (Turbo): very short turns, with cascades played at three times the normal speed. Requires Coindrel Unlimited to host.
The clock never runs while coins are falling or while a new round is revealed. When it runs out, your coin drops in a random entry.
Holes
Four identical holes sit between rows of switches. They form two hidden pairs. A coin group that falls into one hole comes out of its partner, which can be higher or lower on the board.
- Connections are never shown. Watch where coins reappear and remember.
- Either hole of a pair can send the first group that reaches it to the other hole.
- After a pair carries a group, both of its holes close for the rest of that drop. Later coins roll over them. They reopen when the drop settles, which prevents endless loops.
- The holes move to new random places at the start of rounds 2, 3, and 4. Their new locations are shown before the round's first turn; their pairings are not.
- Holes don't award points themselves. They change where coins go.
To see holes in action, try the Holes lesson in How to Play > Extras.
Halved Final Round
Round 4's exit values are halved, so a single late cascade is less likely to decide the match. The two center exits still pay 1, and the round 4 target stays at 80.
Shuffled Exits
Each round deals its usual exit values to random exits instead of the mirrored layout. The richest exits can land anywhere, even side by side or in the center.
- The values themselves and the round targets don't change.
- Both players see the new layout before the round's first turn.
- A final response, the last drop of a round, still scores on the old layout.
Combining Variants
All variants can be combined with each other and with any clock. The match menu's This Match card and the rules screen before an online or nearby duel list the rules in use.
Who Can Use Variants?
- Hosting a match with Turbo, Holes, Halved final round, or Shuffled Exits requires Coindrel Unlimited. Locked options show a padlock.
- Joining or accepting a friend's or nearby host's match is always free, whatever its rules.
- In Quick Match, Coindrel Unlimited owners can wish for variants. A variant applies only when both players want it.
- A saved match always resumes with its rules, even if Coindrel Unlimited is no longer active on the device.
