Troubleshooting Guide

Use this guide to troubleshoot server connections, torrent loading, torrent actions, imports, speed limits, and Apple Watch access.

Server Editor Issues

Test Connection or Save is disabled

  • Enter a non-empty, unique Name.
  • Choose Transmission or qBittorrent.
  • Enter a complete HTTP or HTTPS Endpoint with a host.
  • Enter both Username and Password, or leave both empty.
  • Complete both fields for every custom header and use valid, unique header names.

The endpoint is rejected

  • Begin the endpoint with http:// or https://.
  • Remove credentials, queries, and fragments from the URL.
  • For Transmission, enter the full JSON-RPC URL, normally ending in /transmission/rpc.
  • For qBittorrent, enter the Web UI base URL without /api/v2.

Connection Issues

Seed Truck cannot reach a local server

  1. Confirm that the torrent client is running.
  2. Confirm that the Apple device and server can reach each other on the local network.
  3. Check the host, port, and endpoint path.
  4. On iPhone or iPad, allow Local Network access for Seed Truck in Settings. Use Open App Settings when offered.
  5. On supported macOS versions, review System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
  6. Return to the server editor and choose Test Connection.

The server address could not be resolved

Check the host name in Endpoint. If a local name such as server.local does not resolve, try the server's current local IP address.

The server refused the connection

  • Confirm that the torrent client and its remote or Web UI service are running.
  • Check the port and endpoint path.
  • Check whether a firewall, VPN, or reverse proxy is blocking the connection.

The connection timed out

Confirm that the server is online and reachable from the current network. Check the address, port, VPN, firewall, and reverse-proxy configuration, then retry.

A secure connection could not be established

Check that the HTTPS endpoint is correct and that its certificate is valid for the configured host name.

The server rejected the configured credentials

  • Verify the username and password in the torrent client's own Web UI.
  • Enter both fields in Seed Truck without placing them in the endpoint URL.
  • For qBittorrent authentication bypass, leave both fields empty.
  • If a reverse proxy requires another authentication layer, verify the custom headers.

The server version is not supported

Use Transmission 4.1 or later with JSON-RPC 2.0, or qBittorrent 5 or later. Upgrade the torrent client and test the connection again.

Torrent List Issues

The torrent list cannot be loaded

Seed Truck displays the server's error with Retry. Correct the connection problem, then retry the request.

The list shows previous results

If an update fails after torrents have loaded, Seed Truck keeps the previous results and shows Showing previous results. Retry. Choose that action to retry immediately.

The list shows No Torrents

The selected server returned an empty torrent list. Confirm that the expected torrent was added to this server rather than another configured server.

The list shows Nothing Matches

The current search or status filter hides every torrent. Clear the search or choose Show All.

Torrent Action Issues

Start, Pause, or Remove fails

Open the torrent details, review the message under Action Failed, and use the displayed retry action. The torrent remains listed when removal does not complete.

Before retrying deletion, confirm that you selected the intended removal option. Remove Torrent and Delete Files asks the remote client to permanently delete downloaded files.

Adding Torrent Issues

A torrent file cannot be imported

  • Choose a readable file with the .torrent extension.
  • Seed Truck rejects torrent files larger than the 16 MB import limit.
  • Obtain a new file if Seed Truck reports malformed, unsupported, or overly complex metadata.

A magnet link cannot be added

  • Confirm that the value is a complete link beginning with magnet:.
  • Confirm that at least one destination is selected under Download To.
  • Review the server-specific error and retry.

Only some selected servers accepted the torrent

When adding to multiple servers, Seed Truck identifies each destination that failed. Successful additions are not rolled back. Correct the failed server and add the torrent there again if needed.

Labels are not shown

Labels are shown only when Seed Truck can load them for every selected server. With multiple servers selected, only labels or tags shared by all of them are available.

Speed Limit Issues

Speed limits cannot be loaded

Choose Retry. If loading continues to fail, test the server connection and confirm that the configured account can read the torrent client's global settings.

Apply is disabled

  • Make a change to a rate or an Active Limits toggle.
  • Enter a value greater than zero for every enabled limit.
  • Enter rates in kB/s, where 1 kB equals 1,000 bytes.

Apple Watch Issues

Apple Watch shows No servers!

Configure at least one server using Seed Truck on your iPhone. Confirm that both devices use the same Apple Account with Keychain synchronization available, then reopen Seed Truck on Apple Watch.

Apple Watch cannot load torrents

The watch connects directly to the saved endpoint. Confirm that it has a working network connection and can reach the torrent server.

Never include passwords, custom-header values, cookies, private magnet links, or private torrent metadata in a support request.
