Seed Truck includes a Quick Look extension that lets you inspect a .torrent file before opening it in Seed Truck or sending it to a configured torrent client.
What the Preview Shows
- The torrent name and source file name
- The total content size
- The number of files
- Each displayed file's path and size
- Private or Public when the metadata contains a private flag
If the torrent metadata does not contain a private flag, the preview omits the Access field. This flag describes torrent metadata; it does not guarantee that content, trackers, or peers are publicly accessible.
Use Quick Look
- iPhone or iPad: Locate the
.torrentfile in Files or another app and use its system preview action. - Mac: Select the file in Finder and press the Space bar or use Finder's Quick Look command.
No Seed Truck server configuration is required to generate a preview.
Quick Look Does Not Add the Torrent
The extension reads and validates the selected local file. It does not contact a tracker, connect to a configured torrent server, or add the torrent to a download queue.
Opening the file with Seed Truck is a separate action. Seed Truck then shows Add Torrent, where you select a destination and choose Start Download.
Large Torrents and Display Limits
- The preview displays at most the first 250 files.
- If more files exist, the preview reports how many are not shown.
- Very long paths are shortened for display.
- The encoded
.torrentfile is limited to 16 MiB. - Additional parser limits protect against excessively deep or complex metadata.
If a File Cannot Be Previewed
Quick Look displays an error when Seed Truck cannot read the file or when the metadata is malformed, unsupported, too large, or too complex to process safely. The error preview does not modify the file.
Privacy
Quick Look processing uses the selected local file and does not require a network request from the extension. The preview can reveal torrent names, file paths, sizes, and the private flag to anyone who can access the file and its system preview.
