This article answers common questions about Seed Truck's server setup, torrent management, Apple Watch, Quick Look, synchronization, and security.
Which torrent clients are supported?
Seed Truck supports Transmission 4.1 or later using JSON-RPC 2.0 and qBittorrent 5 or later using Web UI API v2.
Which endpoint should I enter?
- Transmission: Enter the complete JSON-RPC endpoint, such as
http://server.local:9091/transmission/rpc. - qBittorrent: Enter the Web UI base URL, such as
http://server.local:8080. Keep any reverse-proxy prefix, but do not include/api/v2.
Does Seed Truck connect through a Bitten Apps server?
No. Torrent-management traffic goes directly from the app to the Transmission or qBittorrent endpoint you configured.
Can I connect without a username and password?
Yes, when the torrent client does not require authentication. Enter both a username and password, or leave both fields empty. qBittorrent authentication-bypass configurations are supported.
Can I use a reverse proxy?
Yes. qBittorrent base URLs can include a reverse-proxy path, and saved servers can include optional custom HTTP headers for another authentication layer.
Why does Seed Truck warn about HTTP?
HTTP does not encrypt authentication details or other traffic. Use HTTPS whenever it is available, and use HTTP only on a network you trust.
How do I add a torrent?
On iPhone or iPad, use Add Torrent to choose a magnet link or torrent file. You can also open .torrent documents and magnet: URLs with Seed Truck on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Can I add a torrent to more than one server?
Yes, when Add Torrent offers destination selection. Choose one or more saved servers under Download To.
How do labels and tags work?
Seed Truck retrieves existing Transmission labels or qBittorrent tags. With multiple destinations, it offers only names available on every selected server. The picker does not create new labels or tags.
Does Seed Truck download torrent contents to my device?
No. Seed Truck sends a magnet link or .torrent metainfo to the configured remote client. That client downloads and stores the payload files.
What is the difference between the removal options?
- Remove Torrent and Keep Files: Removes the torrent job while asking the client to retain downloaded files.
- Remove Torrent and Delete Files: Removes the torrent job and asks the client to permanently delete downloaded files.
Deleting a saved server is different and does not remove remote torrents or files.
Can Seed Truck manage global speed limits?
Yes. Open a saved server's settings to read and change global download and upload limits for Transmission or qBittorrent.
How often does Seed Truck refresh?
On iPhone, iPad, and Mac, choose an interval from 2 seconds through 5 minutes or choose Manual only. Apple Watch refreshes every 10 seconds while active.
Why do I still see old results after a refresh fails?
After a successful load, Seed Truck keeps the previous torrent list when a later refresh fails and provides a retry action.
Do saved servers synchronize between devices?
Server records are stored as synchronizable Apple Keychain items. They can synchronize to compatible devices using the same Apple Account when Apple's Keychain synchronization requirements are met. Apple controls availability and timing.
What can I do on Apple Watch?
Apple Watch can use available saved server records to list torrents, show details, and send Start, Pause, and removal commands. It does not provide server editing, torrent importing, search, filters, sort controls, or global speed-limit settings.
What does Quick Look show?
Quick Look shows torrent metadata including the name, total size, file count, file paths, and private flag when present. It displays at most the first 250 files and does not add the torrent or contact a configured server.
Where are my server credentials stored?
The endpoint, optional username and password, and custom headers are stored with the server record in Apple's synchronizable data-protection Keychain.
Does Seed Truck require an account or subscription?
No. Seed Truck does not have its own account system or subscription. The credentials entered in Settings belong to your Transmission or qBittorrent server.
How do I contact support?
Open Settings > Help > Submit a Support Request. The form includes the Seed Truck product and current Apple platform for routing, but does not include a RevenueCat identifier.
Never include a server password, custom-header value, cookie, private magnet link, or private torrent metadata in a support request.
