Money Owed on Apple Watch is a Money Owed Pro companion app for creating accounts, viewing balances, and adding transactions. It has a smaller set of features than the iPhone, iPad, and Mac app.
Requirements
- Apple Watch running watchOS 10.0 or later
- An iCloud account available to the Watch
- Money Owed Pro verified through the main app
The Watch app does not have a Pro purchase or restore screen. Buy or restore Money Owed Pro in the main app on iPhone.
Money Owed Pro Access
The Watch can show two different Pro access messages:
- If Pro is not active, the Watch shows Money Owed Pro Required.
- If Pro access has not yet been verified, the Watch asks you to open Money Owed on iPhone and retry.
Open Money Owed on the paired iPhone and allow Pro access to update, then retry on the Watch. If you already purchased Pro and it is still not active, restore the purchase from Settings > Money Owed Pro on iPhone. Account information stays hidden on the Watch until Pro access is verified.
iCloud Sync and Offline Access
After Pro access is verified, the Watch keeps its own copy of your accounts and syncs directly through iCloud rather than waiting for the iPhone app to copy them. This lets the Watch show available balances offline and save new accounts and transactions until it can connect.
The Watch syncs when you open or return to it and when you choose Refresh. The operating system and network determine how quickly changes arrive.
Account List
The Watch app is titled Money Owed. It uses the same iCloud-synchronized account sort preference as the main app.
Common states include:
- Money Owed Pro Required when Pro is not active
- A request to open Money Owed on iPhone and retry when Pro access has not yet been verified
- Can't Sync with Tap refresh to load your accounts.
- No Accounts with Create an account to start tracking money owed. and a New Account button
- Refresh to start a sync attempt
- New Account to create an account directly on the Watch
Use New Account at the top of the account list, or from the empty-account screen. Enter a name, choose a currency, and choose Save. The new account is available immediately on the Watch and syncs through iCloud when connected.
Account Details
Open an account to see its current balance, direction, and up to 20 recent transactions. A writable account shows Add Transaction. An account with no history shows No transactions yet.
Add a Transaction
- Open a writable account and choose Add Transaction.
- Enter the amount with the numeric keypad, then choose the arrow to continue.
- Choose They owe me or I owe them.
- Enter a Description.
- Choose Add.
The keypad fills the amount from right to left using the currency's normal decimal places. For a currency with two decimal places, entering 125 represents 1.25. You can enter up to 12 digits. The transaction date is always the current time.
Watch Limitations
The Watch app does not provide:
- Editing an existing account
- Sharing management or participant permissions
- Currency or general settings
- Transaction notes or attachments
- Transaction editing or deletion
- CSV import, CSV export, or PDF statements
- Recurring transaction or interest schedule settings
- Running recurring transaction or interest schedules
Recurring and interest schedules run from the account owner's iPhone, iPad, or Mac, not from the Watch.
