The Portfolio tab is the main dashboard for tracking your Ghostfolio portfolio performance in Scaryfolio.
Portfolio Overview
The Portfolio tab can show:
- Portfolio chart
- Portfolio value or net worth
- Net performance amount and percentage
- Account-by-account performance
- FIRE calculator entry point
Time Ranges
Scaryfolio supports these portfolio time ranges:
| Option | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 1D | One day |
| WTD | Week to date |
| MTD | Month to date |
| YTD | Year to date |
| 1Y | One year |
| 5Y | Five years |
| Max | All available history |
Changing the range refreshes the chart, summary, and account performance calculations for that period.
Portfolio Chart
Chart Modes
With Scaryfolio Pro, you can choose what the chart displays in Settings > View Options:
- Value: Shows portfolio value or net worth over time.
- Performance: Shows performance over time.
Chart Axis Lines
With Pro, you can show or hide chart axis lines in Settings > View Options.
Chart Colors
- Green: Positive performance for the selected period
- Red: Negative performance for the selected period
Portfolio Value and Net Worth
Portfolio Value
Portfolio value represents the value of your investment portfolio as returned by Ghostfolio.
Net Worth
With Scaryfolio Pro, you can enable Show Net Worth in Settings > View Options. When enabled, Scaryfolio uses net worth values from Ghostfolio where available.
Exclude Uninvested Cash
With Pro, Exclude Uninvested Cash subtracts uninvested account cash from displayed totals and chart values where Scaryfolio can calculate it.
Performance Summary
The summary card shows current value and net performance for the selected range. Performance includes an absolute currency amount and percentage where available.
Portfolio Summary Metrics
With Scaryfolio Pro, Settings > View Options > Portfolio Summary lets you customize the two lower metrics shown below your portfolio value. Available choices are Range Gain, Range Return, Daily Gain, Daily Return, All-Time Gain, and All-Time Return.
N/A Display Options
With Pro, Settings > View Options can replace zero change values with N/A and can show N/A for 1D changes on Saturdays and Sundays. These options can make dashboards and widgets clearer when no meaningful change is available.
Investment-Based Returns
By default, Scaryfolio can use Ghostfolio's investment-based percentage calculation, which compares gains to total invested capital.
Period-Based Returns
With Pro, you can disable Investment-Based Returns. Scaryfolio then calculates the percentage relative to the value at the start of the selected period when enough data is available.
Account Performance
The account performance list breaks down performance by account for the selected time range.
Show Zero Performance Accounts
With Pro, you can choose whether accounts with no gains or losses are displayed.
Show Excluded Accounts
With Pro, you can show accounts marked as excluded from analysis in Ghostfolio. Excluded accounts are hidden by default.
FIRE Calculator
The Portfolio tab can show a FIRE calculator entry point. The calculator projects progress toward a retirement target using portfolio value, monthly savings, annual interest rate, retirement date, and safe withdrawal rate.
The FIRE calculator requires Scaryfolio Pro. With Pro, you can edit monthly savings, annual interest rate, retirement date, and safe withdrawal rate. Scaryfolio then shows projected portfolio growth, projected total, sustainable income if you retire today, and projected sustainable annual and monthly retirement income at your retirement date.
FIRE calculations use the current displayed portfolio value or net worth depending on your View Options. You can hide the FIRE calculator entry point in Settings > Personalization.
Base Currency
Scaryfolio reads your base currency from Ghostfolio. After connecting, you can update it in Settings > Ghostfolio User Settings. Changing Base Currency is saved back to Ghostfolio and refreshes Scaryfolio data.
Refreshing Portfolio Data
- Scaryfolio refreshes core data when the app opens or returns to the foreground if cached data is stale.
- You can manually refresh supported views.
- Widgets use cached app data and update on WidgetKit timelines.
Portfolio Not Available
If the Portfolio tab cannot show data:
- Ghostfolio Cloud may require Ghostfolio Premium for portfolio API access.
- Your self-hosted instance may have no transactions or insufficient chart data.
- The selected time range may not contain enough valid data points.
- Your Ghostfolio server version may return data in an unexpected format.
Tips
- Use Max to confirm whether historical data exists.
- Use WTD, MTD, and YTD for calendar-period performance checks.
- Compare portfolio value and performance chart modes for different perspectives.
- Use net worth and uninvested cash options if your Ghostfolio setup tracks liabilities or cash separately.
