Accounts

The Accounts tab lets you view and, with Scaryfolio Pro, manage Ghostfolio accounts, cash balances, holdings, and activities.

Viewing Accounts

The Accounts tab displays your Ghostfolio accounts with account name, value, currency, and transaction count where available.

Sorting Accounts

You can sort accounts by:

  • Name
  • Value
  • Transactions

Excluded Accounts

Accounts excluded from analysis are hidden by default. With Scaryfolio Pro, enable Settings > View Options > Show Excluded Accounts to display them.

No Account

If Ghostfolio has activities or holdings without an associated account, Scaryfolio can show a synthetic "No Account" entry so those items are still visible.

Account Details

Open an account to view:

  • Account value and cash balance
  • Cash balance history
  • Holdings in the account
  • Activities and transaction history
  • Account performance chart data where available

Account detail charts support WTD, MTD, YTD, 1Y, 5Y, and Max. If 1D is selected elsewhere in the app, account details use WTD because 1D account chart data is not available.

Using Contextual Menus

Many account management actions are available from contextual menus. On iPhone and iPad, touch and hold an item. On Mac, right-click or Control-click an item.

Contextual menus can appear for accounts, holdings, activities, watchlist items, and cash balance entries where actions are available. Some synthetic entries, such as "No Account", may not include edit or delete actions.

Creating and Editing Accounts

Requires Scaryfolio Pro

To create an account:

  1. Open the Accounts tab.
  2. Tap or click the add button.
  3. Enter account details.
  4. Save the account.

The account form includes:

  • Account Name: Required.
  • Initial Balance: Required numeric value.
  • Currency: Required.
  • Comment: Optional.
  • Exclude from Analysis: Optional toggle.

Existing accounts can be edited from the account detail toolbar or from the account's contextual menu where available.

Cash Balances

Editing requires Scaryfolio Pro

Scaryfolio can display account cash balance history. With Pro, you can update an account cash balance and edit or delete balance entries from their contextual menus. Cash balances are saved to Ghostfolio using the account's currency.

Deleting Accounts

Requires Scaryfolio Pro

Deleting an account is permanent and may remove associated Ghostfolio data. Open the account's contextual menu, choose Delete, then confirm the deletion.

Holdings

Viewing Holdings

Holdings show symbol, name, quantity, current value, and performance data where Ghostfolio provides it.

Holding Details

Open a holding to view detailed performance, charts, asset information, and related activities.

Deleting Holdings

Requires Scaryfolio Pro

Deleting a holding removes its associated activities from Ghostfolio. Open the holding's contextual menu, choose Delete, then confirm the deletion. This action cannot be undone.

Activities and Transactions

Viewing Activities

Activities include buys, sells, dividends, interest, fees, liabilities, valuables, and other transaction records returned by Ghostfolio.

Adding Activities

Requires Scaryfolio Pro

  1. Open an account or holding.
  2. Tap or click the add activity button.
  3. Select or search for the symbol if needed.
  4. Choose the activity type.
  5. Enter details such as date, quantity, unit price or total price, fee, currency, and comment.
  6. Use Update Cash Balance when it is available and you want the activity to update today's account cash balance.
  7. Save the activity.

Buy, sell, and dividend activities require a symbol. Fee, interest, liability, and valuable activities can be entered without a symbol, but they require a name. The activity form supports locale-aware decimal entry and can calculate unit price from a total price when quantity is available.

Editing Activities

Requires Scaryfolio Pro

Open the activity's contextual menu from a holding or transaction list, then choose Edit to update supported activity fields. The activity type is fixed when editing an existing activity.

Deleting Activities

Requires Scaryfolio Pro

Open the activity's contextual menu, choose Delete, then confirm the deletion.

Symbol Search

When adding a new activity or watchlist item, Scaryfolio searches Ghostfolio's symbol lookup endpoint. Search by ticker symbol or name. Results depend on your Ghostfolio instance and data sources.

Refreshing Account Data

  • Account data refreshes during app data refreshes.
  • You can manually refresh supported account views.
  • After write operations, Scaryfolio updates local data and refreshes related screens.

Tips

  1. Use clear account names so lists stay readable.
  2. Record activities soon after they happen.
  3. Include fees for better performance accuracy.
  4. Use comments for notes you may need later.
  5. Check Ghostfolio web periodically if a write operation behaves differently than expected.
