Scaryfolio Pro can show how your portfolio is distributed across holdings, asset classes, sectors, regions, currencies, accounts, platforms, and other Ghostfolio metadata. This article explains how to use and customize the Portfolio Allocations screen.
Requirements
- Scaryfolio Pro
- A connected Ghostfolio Cloud or self-hosted Ghostfolio instance
- Ghostfolio 3.44.0 or newer
- Portfolio details and metadata available from Ghostfolio
Allocations are loaded from the whole portfolio and do not depend on the performance range currently selected on the Portfolio tab. Ghostfolio Cloud may require a Ghostfolio Premium plan for some portfolio data.
Open Allocations
- Open the Portfolio tab.
- Tap or click the pie-chart button in the Portfolio toolbar.
- Wait for the allocation charts to load.
You can also use the Open Allocations App Shortcut or Siri, or open the supported deep link scaryfolio://allocations.
Available Sections
The screen can show the following sections. Each section presents the proportion of the portfolio represented by its categories.
- Proportion of Net Worth: Shows the portfolio proportion of net worth returned by Ghostfolio.
- By Platform: Groups positions by platform or provider.
- By Currency: Groups positions by currency where Ghostfolio provides currency information.
- By Asset Class: Groups positions by asset class, with asset subclass detail when available.
- By Holding: Groups positions by security or other holding.
- By Sector: Groups positions by sector using Ghostfolio metadata.
- By Continent: Groups country exposure into continents when country metadata is available.
- By Market: Groups positions by advanced market metadata returned by Ghostfolio.
- By Country: Groups positions by country using Ghostfolio metadata.
- By Account: Groups portfolio value by Scaryfolio account.
- By ETF Provider: Shows provider groupings for ETF positions when Scaryfolio can infer a provider from the available ETF information.
Charts and Values
Most sections use a donut chart with a legend. Drag across a chart ring to inspect a category in a tooltip. The tooltip can show its percentage of the portfolio and, when absolute values are available, its value in the Ghostfolio base currency.
The Asset Class section can include an inner ring for asset subclasses. A child category shows both its percentage of the portfolio and its percentage within the parent asset class.
To keep charts readable, larger breakdowns combine smaller categories into an Other slice. The legend still shows the percentage for the combined slice. The exact number of visible categories varies by section.
Privacy and Missing Data
If Ghostfolio Zen Mode is enabled, or absolute values are not available, Scaryfolio shows percentages without absolute currency amounts. Scaryfolio's normal privacy blur can also hide displayed financial values.
A section can show No Allocation Data when Ghostfolio does not provide enough metadata for that breakdown. Categories with missing metadata may appear as Unknown or No Data. This does not necessarily mean that the holding is missing from your portfolio.
Customize Allocation Sections
- Open Settings.
- Open Personalization.
- Select Allocation Sections.
- Choose which sections are visible.
- Choose Edit to reorder sections.
- Use Reset to Default Order to restore every supported section and the default order.
At least one allocation section must remain visible. Allocation section visibility and order synchronize through iCloud for supported devices using the same Apple Account.
Refreshing Allocations
- Allocations load when the screen is opened for an authenticated Pro user.
- Pull down to refresh on supported touch platforms.
- Use the refresh action on Mac or retry the error message when one appears.
- Refreshing allocations requests the whole-portfolio breakdown, regardless of the selected Portfolio performance range.
Troubleshooting
Allocations Are Locked
Portfolio Allocations requires Scaryfolio Pro. Open the purchase screen from the locked Allocations view or restore your purchase in Settings.
No Allocation Data Appears
- Confirm Scaryfolio is connected to Ghostfolio.
- Confirm your Ghostfolio server is version 3.44.0 or newer.
- Refresh the Allocations screen.
- Check whether your Ghostfolio account or plan provides portfolio details.
- Check Ghostfolio holdings for missing sector, country, currency, or other metadata.
A Breakdown Shows Unknown or No Data
The breakdown depends on metadata returned by Ghostfolio. Review the affected holding or instrument in Ghostfolio and refresh Scaryfolio after its metadata is available. ETF Provider labels may be approximate because they are inferred from available ETF information.
Allocation Values Are Not Shown
Ghostfolio Zen Mode and privacy-sensitive display behavior can suppress absolute values while leaving percentages visible. Check Ghostfolio User Settings and Scaryfolio's privacy controls if you need to view amounts.
A Section Cannot Be Hidden
Scaryfolio keeps at least one allocation section visible. Show another section first, then hide the section you no longer want to display.
The Open Allocations Shortcut Does Not Work
- Open Scaryfolio once after installing or updating it.
- Search for Scaryfolio again in the Shortcuts app.
- Confirm the Allocations destination is not affected by unavailable app access.
- Confirm Scaryfolio Pro and a Ghostfolio connection are active before opening the screen.
If the issue continues, submit a support ticket from Scaryfolio Settings and include your Scaryfolio version, Ghostfolio version, platform, and the allocation section that failed.
