Scaryfolio integrates with Apple Spotlight, Shortcuts, Siri, and App Intents so you can find accounts, open common Scaryfolio screens, and build automations around portfolio metrics.
Requirements
- Scaryfolio installed on a supported iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Scaryfolio connected to Ghostfolio for actions that read portfolio data.
- The Apple Shortcuts app for creating custom shortcuts and automations.
- Scaryfolio Pro for Get Portfolio Value, Get Portfolio Gain, and Get Portfolio Return.
Navigation shortcuts, such as opening Portfolio, Accounts, Watchlist, Markets, or Settings, do not require Scaryfolio Pro. Only the three portfolio metric actions listed above require Pro.
Spotlight Account Search
Scaryfolio can index your Ghostfolio accounts for Apple Spotlight after account data has loaded in the app. This lets you search from the system search interface and open an account directly in Scaryfolio.
What Spotlight Can Find
- Account names
- Account currencies
- Account value where available
- Cash balance where available
- Scaryfolio-related keywords such as Account, Account Value, and Cash Balance
How to Use Spotlight
- Open Scaryfolio and make sure your account data has loaded.
- Open Spotlight or system search.
- Search for Scaryfolio, an account name, a currency, or a relevant account keyword.
- Select the account result to open it in Scaryfolio.
Accounts marked as excluded from analysis and synthetic no-account entries are not indexed for Spotlight. If there are no searchable accounts, Scaryfolio removes its account search index.
Available Shortcuts
Scaryfolio exposes App Intents to Apple Shortcuts. You can run them from the Shortcuts app, use them in automations, or trigger supported phrases with Siri.
| Shortcut Action | What It Does | Requires Pro to Run Action |
|---|---|---|
| Open Portfolio | Opens the Portfolio dashboard. | No |
| Open Portfolio Time Range | Opens the Portfolio dashboard with a selected time range. | No |
| Get Portfolio Value | Returns the latest portfolio value for a selected time range. | Yes |

This table covers whether the Shortcuts action itself requires Pro. Some destination screens can still include their own in-app Pro features after Scaryfolio opens.
Portfolio Time Ranges
Portfolio shortcuts support these time ranges:
- 1D
- WTD
- MTD
- YTD
- 1Y
- 5Y
- Max
Metric actions use the selected time range when requesting portfolio performance data from your configured Ghostfolio connection.
Creating a Shortcut
- Open the Shortcuts app.
- Tap or click the add button to create a new shortcut.
- Search for Scaryfolio in the action picker.
- Add the Scaryfolio action you want to use.
- If the action has a Time Range parameter, choose the range you want.
- Add any other Shortcuts actions you need, such as Text, If, Format Number, Show Result, or Show Notification.
- Run the shortcut once to confirm it works.
Portfolio metric actions return numeric values to Shortcuts. If you want a specific currency or percentage format in your own notification text, add Shortcuts formatting actions before showing the result.
Siri Phrase Examples
You can use Siri with supported Scaryfolio App Shortcuts. Example phrases include:
- Open my portfolio in Scaryfolio.
- Show MTD in Scaryfolio.
- Get MTD portfolio value in Scaryfolio.
- What is my YTD portfolio gain in Scaryfolio?
- Get 1D portfolio return in Scaryfolio.
- Open accounts in Scaryfolio.
- Open watchlist in Scaryfolio.
- Open markets in Scaryfolio.
- Open settings in Scaryfolio.
The exact Siri behavior can vary by platform, language, Shortcuts configuration, and Siri settings.
How Portfolio Metric Actions Work
- Scaryfolio uses your saved Ghostfolio connection to request portfolio performance data.
- Self-hosted server settings and custom headers configured in Scaryfolio are reused by the shortcut action.
- Portfolio value follows your Show Net Worth setting where applicable.
- Return calculations follow Scaryfolio's portfolio percentage settings where applicable.
- Get Portfolio Value, Get Portfolio Gain, and Get Portfolio Return require Scaryfolio Pro.
Zen Mode
If Ghostfolio Zen Mode is enabled, absolute portfolio values may be redacted by Ghostfolio. In that case, Get Portfolio Value and Get Portfolio Gain cannot return absolute values. Get Portfolio Return may still be available, but it still requires Scaryfolio Pro.
Troubleshooting
Scaryfolio Actions Do Not Appear in Shortcuts
- Open Scaryfolio at least once after installing or updating it.
- Open the Shortcuts app and search for Scaryfolio again.
- Restart the device if the system has not refreshed available App Intents.
- Check that the device is running a supported OS version.
A Metric Shortcut Says Pro is Required
Get Portfolio Value, Get Portfolio Gain, and Get Portfolio Return require Scaryfolio Pro. Purchase or restore Pro in Scaryfolio Settings, then run the shortcut again.
A Metric Shortcut Says to Sign In
Open Scaryfolio, connect to Ghostfolio in Settings, and confirm that portfolio data loads in the app before running the shortcut again.
Portfolio Value or Gain is Unavailable
Ghostfolio Zen Mode can hide absolute values. Disable Zen Mode in Ghostfolio User Settings if you want value and gain shortcuts to return absolute amounts.
Spotlight Does Not Find an Account
- Open Scaryfolio and refresh account data.
- Confirm the account is not excluded from analysis.
- Wait for the system Spotlight index to refresh.
- Try searching by account name, currency, Account, Account Value, Cash Balance, or Scaryfolio.
A Navigation Shortcut Does Not Open the Expected Tab
If you have hidden tabs with Scaryfolio personalization settings, enable the destination tab again in Settings > Personalization and retry the shortcut.
Privacy Note
Spotlight results, Siri responses, Shortcuts output, and notifications can display financial information outside the main Scaryfolio interface. Be careful when using these features on shared devices, visible Lock Screens, or speakers where others may hear Siri responses.
