The Markets tab shows market benchmarks and indices provided by your Ghostfolio instance. Use it to understand broad market context alongside your portfolio.
What are Markets?
Markets are benchmark assets returned by Ghostfolio, such as stock indices or other reference benchmarks. Availability and exact benchmark names depend on your Ghostfolio server.
Accessing Markets
The Markets tab is available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It is enabled by default. With Scaryfolio Pro, you can hide or show it in Settings > Personalization. At least one main tab must remain enabled.
Viewing Benchmarks
The Markets list can show:
- Benchmark name
- Ticker symbol
- Data source
- Distance from all-time high where available
- Trend and market condition indicators where available
Symbol Display
With Scaryfolio Pro, Settings > View Options > Show Symbol First changes whether ticker symbols or names are emphasized first in Markets, Watchlist, and Holdings.
Sorting Benchmarks
Benchmarks can be sorted by:
- Name
- Ticker
- % from ATH
You can also switch between ascending and descending order.
Benchmark Details
Open a benchmark to view details such as:
- Historical chart where available
- Current price or value
- Performance metrics
- All-time-high distance
- 50-day and 200-day trend indicators where available
- Market condition where available
- Symbol and data source
Chart availability depends on your Ghostfolio instance and API access. Ghostfolio Cloud may require Ghostfolio Premium for some market data.
Refreshing Market Data
- Markets data loads when you open the Markets tab.
- Markets refreshes again after it has been idle for about one hour.
- You can manually refresh supported Markets views.
Markets vs Watchlist

Markets is view-only in Scaryfolio and does not expose management contextual menus. Watchlist management, including adding and removing items, is covered in the Watchlist article.
Troubleshooting
No Benchmarks Appear
- Refresh the Markets tab.
- Verify your Ghostfolio instance provides benchmarks.
- Check your connection in Settings.
Benchmark Details Do Not Load
- Try another benchmark.
- Check whether your Ghostfolio API has access to detailed benchmark data.
- For Ghostfolio Cloud, check whether the data requires Ghostfolio Premium.
Availability
Markets is available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Markets is view-only in Scaryfolio and does not require Scaryfolio Pro to view, but hiding or showing the tab through Personalization requires Pro.
