The Scaryfolio Apple Watch app shows portfolio performance from your wrist. Scaryfolio Pro unlocks Watch access, and iCloud configures the Watch automatically.
Requirements
- Apple Watch running watchOS 10.0 or later
- Scaryfolio Pro
- The same Apple Account as an iPhone, iPad, or Mac with an active Scaryfolio connection
- iCloud Keychain enabled
- Internet access on Apple Watch through Wi-Fi, cellular, or its paired iPhone
Automatic Setup
- Connect Scaryfolio to Ghostfolio on iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Confirm Scaryfolio Pro is active.
- Install and open Scaryfolio on Apple Watch.
- Allow time for iCloud to synchronize.
No manual iPhone-to-Watch sync is required. The Watch receives the connection through iCloud and connects directly to Ghostfolio, so it needs internet access.

Watch Widgets
Watch widgets require Pro and use data loaded by the Watch app. Open and refresh the Watch app when widget information needs to be updated. If Watch access is unavailable, authentication fails, or Pro expires, Watch widgets show a Ghost placeholder instead of portfolio data. Financial widget caches are cleared when Watch access is revoked, the active connection changes, or you disconnect globally.
Status Messages
Waiting for iCloud Settings
Open the main app, confirm Pro is active, and allow time for iCloud to synchronize.
Waiting for iCloud Keychain Connection
Connect Scaryfolio on another device using the same Apple Account, confirm iCloud Keychain is enabled, and allow time for synchronization.
iCloud Account Unavailable
Check Apple Account and iCloud Keychain status, unlock the Watch after restart, then choose Retry. You do not normally need to Disconnect.
Scaryfolio Pro Required
Restore purchases or activate Pro in the main app. Scaryfolio remains connected on your other devices.
Update Scaryfolio
Update Scaryfolio on Apple Watch, then try again.
Ghostfolio Authentication Failed
Verify or replace the Ghostfolio Security Token from a main device, then try again.
Ghostfolio Server Unavailable
Check Watch internet access and whether the Ghostfolio server, VPN, proxy, and any required custom headers are available.
Privacy
The Watch receives protected connection details through iCloud Keychain and connects directly to Ghostfolio, not through a Scaryfolio server. Watch widget content is marked as privacy-sensitive, so watchOS may redact it on supported surfaces or device states. Watch widgets may still display financial information where other people can see it, so remove them when that exposure is not appropriate.
When Watch access is revoked, the active connection changes, or you disconnect globally, Scaryfolio clears the Watch bearer token and financial widget cache. The Watch must receive valid access and reconnect before financial data is shown again.
Limitations
- The Watch app is for viewing and refreshing portfolio data.
- Accounts, balances, and activities cannot be edited from Watch.
- Charts are simplified for the Watch display.
- iCloud and background refresh timing are controlled by Apple.
