The Scaryfolio Apple Watch app lets you check portfolio performance from your wrist. Apple Watch credential sync requires the iPhone app and Scaryfolio Pro.
Requirements
- Apple Watch running watchOS 10.0 or later
- iPhone with Scaryfolio installed and connected to Ghostfolio
- Scaryfolio Pro
- Apple Watch paired with the iPhone
- Internet access on Apple Watch through iPhone, Wi-Fi, or cellular
The Mac app cannot sync credentials to Apple Watch. Initial setup must be performed from iPhone.
Installing the Watch App
The Watch app may install automatically after Scaryfolio is installed on iPhone. If not:
- Open the Apple Watch app on iPhone.
- Find Scaryfolio in available apps.
- Tap Install.
Setting Up Watch Sync
- Open Scaryfolio on iPhone.
- Connect to Ghostfolio in Settings.
- Make sure Scaryfolio Pro is active.
- Keep the iPhone and Apple Watch nearby.
- If credentials do not sync automatically, tap Sync to Apple Watch in Scaryfolio Settings.
After credentials are synced, the Watch app can fetch portfolio data directly from your Ghostfolio server.
Watch App Features
- Portfolio value or net worth display, depending on synced settings
- Performance amount and percentage
- Compact performance chart when enough chart data exists
- Time ranges in the Watch app: 1D, WTD, MTD, YTD, 1Y, and Max
- Manual refresh from the Watch app
- Settings-aware calculations such as investment-based returns and chart mode
Refreshing Data
The Watch app loads portfolio data when opened, when credentials become available, and when the Watch app becomes active. Use the refresh button in the Watch app to request the latest data.
The Watch app also uses synced display settings from iPhone, including base currency, net worth and portfolio display options, return calculation preferences, and chart settings. If you change settings on iPhone, keep the devices nearby and sync again if the Watch does not update.
Watch Widgets
Scaryfolio includes Watch widget support where available. Watch widgets require Scaryfolio Pro and use cached portfolio data.

Watch widgets can be configured with 1D, WTD, MTD, YTD, 1Y, 5Y, and Max time ranges. Widget data depends on cached app data, Apple Watch connectivity, and system widget refresh scheduling.
Troubleshooting
Watch App Says to Open Scaryfolio on iPhone
- Open Scaryfolio on iPhone.
- Verify the iPhone app is connected to Ghostfolio.
- Verify Scaryfolio Pro is active.
- Tap Sync to Apple Watch in Settings.
Sync to Apple Watch is Locked
Apple Watch credential sync requires Scaryfolio Pro.
Watch App Shows a Communication Error
- Check Apple Watch internet access.
- Check that your Ghostfolio server is reachable.
- Open Scaryfolio on iPhone and reconnect if needed.
- Sync credentials again from iPhone Settings.
Data is Outdated
- Open the Watch app and use refresh.
- Open the iPhone app to refresh portfolio data and settings.
- Keep the devices nearby to allow settings sync.
Watch App Will Not Install
- Make sure watchOS 10.0 or later is installed.
- Check available Watch storage.
- Restart iPhone and Apple Watch.
- Install Scaryfolio manually from the Apple Watch app.
Privacy
The Watch app stores synced connection information needed to contact your Ghostfolio server. It retrieves portfolio data directly from Ghostfolio and does not send portfolio data to a Scaryfolio server.
Limitations
- The Watch app is for viewing and refreshing portfolio data.
- You cannot create accounts, edit balances, or record activities from Apple Watch.
- Initial setup requires iPhone.
- Charts are simplified for the Watch display.
