This guide explains how to connect Steam, PlayStation, RetroAchievements, and Xbox to GameGoblin on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Before You Begin
- Install GameGoblin on a supported iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Have access to the gaming account you want to connect.
- Use the same Apple Account on devices that should share iCloud data.
- Remember that a free account can connect up to two distinct platforms. Existing-platform reconnects do not count as a new platform.
Connect Steam
Step 1: Open the connection screen
During onboarding, choose Steam. After onboarding, open Settings > Accounts and choose Connect Steam.
Step 2: Check Steam privacy
Steam requires both My Profile and Game details to be Public. You can open Steam's privacy settings here:
Step 3: Sign in through Steam
Choose Sign in through Steam. The system browser opens Steam's sign-in page. Complete the sign-in there and return to GameGoblin.
Step 4: Wait for setup and sync
GameGoblin checks the Steam account and privacy settings, saves the connection, and starts synchronization. The first Steam sync may take longer while achievement details are checked.
Connect PlayStation
Step 1: Open the connection screen
During onboarding, choose PlayStation. After onboarding, open Settings > Accounts and choose Connect PlayStation.
Step 2: Sign in in the system browser
GameGoblin opens the PlayStation sign-in page in the system browser. Complete the sign-in with your password or passkey. GameGoblin does not ask you to type those credentials into the app.
Step 3: Finish the authorization
Allow the authorization to return to GameGoblin. GameGoblin validates the PlayStation account, finishes setup, and begins the sync.
Connect RetroAchievements
Step 1: Find your Web API key
Sign in to RetroAchievements and open the control panel. Your Web API key is managed there:
Open the RetroAchievements control panel
Step 2: Enter your account details
In GameGoblin, enter your RetroAchievements username and Web API key. Treat the key like a password and do not share it in a support request.
Step 3: Connect
Choose Connect RetroAchievements. GameGoblin validates the account, saves the connection, and starts importing recent activity, library progress, achievements, and Want to Play entries.
Connect Xbox
Step 1: Open the connection screen
During onboarding, choose Xbox. After onboarding, open Settings > Accounts and choose Connect Xbox.
Step 2: Sign in with Microsoft
Choose Sign in with Microsoft and complete the Microsoft sign-in flow in the system authentication session. GameGoblin imports Xbox game history and achievements after the account is verified.
Step 3: Wait for the library detail pass
Xbox can check achievement details for the full imported library. Settings shows progress when the provider supplies a determinate total. This initial pass can take time and can resume after a pause.
Connection Rules
One account per platform
GameGoblin keeps one connected account for each platform. Reconnecting the same account is allowed. To switch to a different account, disconnect the current account first.
Re-authentication
If a saved credential is missing or rejected, GameGoblin may show Re-authenticate in Accounts, Sync, or a Library issue banner. Re-authentication keeps your existing account, games, checkpoints, and CloudKit data. It must resolve to the same provider identity.
Disconnecting
Disconnecting a platform removes that platform's account, games, credential, sync checkpoint, and related status from GameGoblin. It does not disconnect your other platforms.
Connection Status
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Connected | The account is saved and GameGoblin can request provider data. |
| Waiting for sign-in | The provider browser or system authentication session is open. |
| Checking account | GameGoblin is validating the account identity before saving it. |
| Needs attention | A credential, provider privacy setting, or iCloud condition needs action. |
