GameGoblin organizes imported games into five Library sections. Platform sync controls provider-owned data, while play activity and completion rules update the lifecycle status.
Library Sections
Now Playing
Now Playing contains games that you are actively tracking. Provider play activity can move a new game or a Wishlist or Backlog game here. You can also manually move a game between Now Playing and the other manual lifecycle statuses.
Backlog
Backlog contains imported games that are not currently Now Playing or Done. A full-library import normally adds unknown games here. Historical games can remain in Backlog until play activity or completion data changes them.
Wishlist
Wishlist is controlled by supported platform wishlists. It is not a manually editable lifecycle status. Steam, PlayStation, and RetroAchievements can supply Wishlist entries. Xbox does not currently supply a Wishlist source.
Done
Done contains games you have completed or manually marked as finished. A game already in Done stays Done when it is played again.
Ignored
Ignored is a presentation filter, not a status. Ignoring a game hides it from its normal lifecycle section while keeping its status and sync data. Restore it from Ignored to return it to the appropriate lifecycle section.
Automatic Status Changes
Play activity
- A newly discovered played game is inserted as Now Playing.
- A played Wishlist or Backlog game moves to Now Playing.
- A played Done game stays Done.
Completion
After a complete achievement or trophy update, a game in Now Playing or Backlog can move to Done when all required achievements are earned and the total is greater than zero. Add-on trophy groups are included in PlayStation completion.
Wishlist games are not auto-completed. If you manually move a completed game out of Done, completion automation is disabled for that game until you manually move it back to Done.
Manual moves
Manual status controls apply to Backlog, Now Playing, and Done. Wishlist membership is owned by the platform mirror and play activity, not by a manual Wishlist button.
Searching and Filtering
GameGoblin Pro adds title search and platform filtering to each Library section. Wishlist also has a release-status filter:
- All Releases: Shows every Wishlist game.
- Released: Shows games with an exact date that has arrived or an approximate year that has fully passed.
- Unreleased: Shows future, current-year, missing, approximate, or provider text-only dates such as Coming soon.
Search is temporary and resets when you change sections. Saved platform and release filters return when you revisit a section. The section count does not change when filters hide rows.
Sorting
Each section has appropriate sort choices. The available fields include:
- Now Playing: Last Played, Title, Completion
- Backlog: Title, Last Played, Completion
- Wishlist: Title, Release Date, Date Added
- Done: Date Finished, Last Played, Title
- Ignored: Title, Date Added
Saved section sorting and filtering preferences synchronize through iCloud when available. Search remains device-local and temporary.
Sync and Imported Library Records
GameGoblin imports provider catalog data rather than asking you to create free-form games. A record can receive its title, description, genres, cover, hero artwork, gallery images, console identity, release date, and achievement summary in separate sync phases.
Open Settings > Sync to see each platform's play or library phase, Wishlist phase when supported, last success, duration, progress, and actionable issue. A full sync can be started from Home, Library, or Settings.
Customizing the Library
GameGoblin Pro lets you show, hide, and reorder Library sections in Settings > Customize > Library. Choose Edit before reordering. At least one Library section remains visible. If the selected section is hidden, GameGoblin selects the first visible section.
