To keep your personal collection of GIFs and images private, GIF Vault allows you to restrict access using Apple's biometric security (Face ID or Touch ID). When enabled, you must authenticate each time you open the application.
đ Premium Feature: Biometric Lock is a premium feature. To use it, you must upgrade to GIF Vault Pro.
How to Enable Biometric Lock
- Open the GIF Vault app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap the Settings tab (the gear icon) at the bottom-right corner of your screen.
- Scroll down to the Security section.
- Tap the Biometric Lock row.
- If you are a Pro user, your device will prompt you for Face ID or Touch ID to authorize the setup.
- If authentication is successful, the lock will be enabled, and a checkmark will appear next to the option.
How the Lock Works
- Automatic Locking: Whenever you swipe home, lock your device, or switch to another application, GIF Vault automatically locks itself in the background to prevent unauthorized access.
- Unlocking: When you relaunch or return to the app, a Face ID or Touch ID prompt will immediately appear saying: "Unlock to access your vault."
Authentication Failure & Troubleshooting
If Face ID or Touch ID fails to recognize you:
- An "Authentication Failure" alert will appear.
- You can tap Try Again to restart the biometric scan.
- If you tap Cancel, the app will safely quit and close itself immediately for your security.
âšī¸ Device Compatibility:
- Make sure Face ID or Touch ID is enabled and set up in your iOS device settings.
- macOS Platform Restriction: Biometric Lock is currently not available on the macOS Catalyst version of GIF Vault. The Security settings panel is hidden on Mac devices.
