Whether you want to delete a single GIF or completely wipe your application database to start fresh, GIF Vault provides simple tools to manage your data.
Deleting a Single GIF or Image
If you no longer need a specific image in your vault:
- Tap on the GIF in the main Vault grid to open its Detail View.
- Look at the action buttons row below the image preview and tap the red Delete button (the trash icon).
- A prompt will ask you to confirm deletion.
- Tap Delete. The GIF, along with its metadata and any assigned tags, will be permanently removed from your vault.
Resetting the Application (Wiping All Data)
If you want to clear your entire collection and reset GIF Vault to its original state:
- Open the Settings tab (the gear icon).
- Scroll down to the Maintenance section.
- Tap Reset Application (highlighted in red).
- A verification alert will appear: "Confirm Wipe - Are you sure you want to wipe this application's database? All stored images will be deleted."
- Tap Delete to confirm.
⚠️ Critical Warning: Resetting the application completely deletes all stored images and clears your database. Once clicked, this action cannot be undone, and your files cannot be recovered unless you have a backup file saved.
iCloud Sync Warning: If iCloud Sync is enabled, deleting an item or resetting the application also syncs those deletions to your other devices. Turning sync off after a deletion does not restore the deleted content. Export a backup before resetting if you may need the vault again.
Starting Over After a Reset
Resetting clears the vault but does not reset your other app preferences or show the introductory tutorial again. You can begin rebuilding the empty vault by using the Add (+) button.
