As your vault grows, finding the exact GIF you want can become challenging. GIF Vault uses a flexible, lightweight Tagging System that lets you categorize and retrieve media in seconds.
What are Tags?
Tags are simple, descriptive keywords (like happy, facepalm, cats, or agreement) that you assign to your GIFs. Unlike folder structures, you can add multiple tags to a single GIF, making it easy to find under different search queries.
Adding Tags to a GIF
- From the main Vault screen, tap on the GIF or image you want to tag to open its Detail View.
- Scroll down to the Tags section. If the image doesn't have any tags, it will display "No tags yet".
- Tap the Add (+) button on the right side of the Tags section.
- Enter the desired tag name in the dialog box (e.g.,
laugh). - Tap Add to save. The new tag will immediately appear as a capsule in the Tags section.
Removing Tags from a GIF
If you make a typo or want to reorganize your tags, removing them is straightforward:
- Open the GIF's Detail View.
- In the Tags card, tap directly on the tag capsule you want to remove.
- A dialog box will appear asking you to confirm: "Are you sure you want to remove the tag '[Tag Name]' from this image?"
- Tap Remove to confirm. The tag will be detached from this GIF.
Searching Your Vault by Tag
Once you've tagged your GIFs, searching for them is fast and intelligent:
- Tap the Search Bar at the top of the main Vault grid (if it's hidden, swipe down on the grid to reveal it).
- Start typing a search term.
- The vault will automatically filter to display only the GIFs that have tags containing the text you typed.
